EXPERIENTIAL
ILLUMINARIUM
In partnership with Illuminarium Experiences, LAB at Rockwell Group produced a series of virtual environments projected as 360 immersive backdrops to Illuminarium’s evening cocktail space. As the Unity Developer on the Shibuya scene, I integrated 3D assets/animations, organized the sequencing of events for both a 10 minute and 3 hour timeline, created the logic for changing dynamic lighting, and worked on site to establish and troubleshoot its projection into the room.
In addition to Shibuya, I contributed to the look development in the Aquatic, Clouds and Nebula scenes.
OBSCURA
In collaboration with Yuhan Zhang, we created Obscura as an interactive light installation to showcase in the 2016 ITP Winter show. Up to three participants altered three analog dials that controlled brightness, hue and the sine wave intensity. The resulting collaborative visual reflected off of a mylar material before being projected onto the exhibit wall.
‘CERTAINTY OF THE FLESH'
In collaboration with artist Wang Shui and Producer/Technical Director Brandon Roots, I contributed to the immersive exhibition "Certainty of the Flesh" at the Haus der Kunst, inspired by Octavia E. Butler's science fiction series "Xenogenesis." As a look developer, I worked closely with Shui and Brandon to craft a visually cohesive aesthetic that seamlessly blended characters, reflecting the theme of human-technology fusion.
Using Unity’s Shader Graph, I developed an innovative approach that merged two character animations by manipulating their vertices. This technique enabled multiple layers of texture overlays, each masked with patterns specific to the characters. The shaders were designed to perpetually 'flow' in harmony with the characters' dance movements, creating a dynamic visual experience.
The merging technique stretched the skin of the characters in opposite directions and with inverted opacity masks, resulting in an abstraction that obscured the fusion, and created an etherial quality of the characters.
